The Story of One Connecticut Girl
True Confession Friday #2

kimbaland:

I like sitting on the handicap toilet because my feet dangle off.

And yes, I sit on the seat. It’s not toxic. Although if it looks toxic I don’t sit.

I can’t squat. Impossible. Paper & sit. Always.

Today this little flower is eleven months. The most rewarding eleven months I can remember. My heart is forever changed.

Violet woke up smiling & clapping today. Who does that? My girl. She confiscated my smoothie at breakfast & made it hers. Good taste, clearly. She has emptied every cabinet or drawer she could find, fought me in a big way to change her diaper and is now peacefully sleep-nursing in my arms while I blog on my phone.

She really is my light. This is my life.

Vision vs Reality

For the first time today, V left with Glen to go to a friend’s aunt’s house for the day so she can hang out with our friends’ children.  Today I am working 3 minutes from home, so I was able to go home for my lunch hour.

I had visions of this hour…me painting my nails, feet up, relaxing.  I have only been home alone in my house since Violet was born maybe once for a few minutes.

Reality: I started laundry, brought other laundry upstairs, folded and put away laundry, did dishes, emptied the dishwasher, changed the trash, brought in the recycling, ate lunch, pumped and raced back to the office for my 2pm patient.

And now I’m exhausted.

Motherhood. :)

IPhone vs. Droid

I have a few weeks left until I can change my phone and I’m really torn about this choice.

I know everyone has a strong opinion about this, but I’m interested in the why part. If you swear by your phone, what does it have that the other doesnt? Bc for me, I hear the gps on iPhones is So-so and I’m direction special. But the iPhone has cute cases (priorities). I use a PC but love my iPod.

Please help.

PSA on babies

If you have well water & a baby older than six months….

You should consider the recommendation to supplement your child with fluoride. It strengthens your child’s developing teeth (the adult ones). I found out today that a few of my friends with little ones hadn’t started yet, so I’m passing this on. The supplementation is based on a water test from your well water.

Okay, that’s all. Feel free to pass this on.

This weekend was for spending time with family & friends, watching Glen build a shed, a sleepover with my mom, Chipotle (twice!), a first birthday party, an 86-year-old birthday party, reading books with V, a trip to scope out the birthday rental, ordering (& expediting the shipping on) the birthday invites, lunch with Sarah, lots of laughter and full of love.

And it is not lost on me that this beautiful life I live is made possible because of our soldiers. Their service and sacrifice are not forgotten.
